I’m certain you can never outgrow a love of this childhood treat!

Next to chocolate chip cookies, this is one of my favorite nostalgic snacks. They’re sweet and gooey, and quick and easy to make too!

In about 10 minutes, you can have these delicious treats too!

The Secret Ingredient

One thing that sets this recipe from your other ‘everyday’ Rice Krispie (krispy? crispy?) treats is the flaky sea salt. My favorite is from is from the Alaska Salt Company. You can find a similar one on Amazon.

Gooey Goodness

Start by melting your butter in a large pot.

Add in most (about 5 1/2 cups) of the mini marshmallows and stir until melted and ooey-gooey.

Turn off heat, then add in Rice Krispies (about 1/2 of the regular size box) and sprinkle with salt.

Stir with a spatula until marshmallows have evenly (ish) coated the cereal, then add the remaining rest of the marshmallows.

Give this a few stirs; you don’t want them to melt completely.

Add your crispy treat to a greased cake pan. Cut when cool. Fight over who gets the last one… they’ll go quickly!

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 10 cups mini marshmallows divided
  • 6 cups rice krispy cereal
  • ½ tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a pan over low heat.
  • Stir in marshmallows, reserving 2 cups to add later.
  • Stir regularly until marshmallows have melted. Turn off heat and stir in rice krispy cereal and sprinkle with sea salt.
  • Add remaining 2 cups of marshmallows and stir. These won't melt completely with the rest, but will make your treats extra gooey!
  • Add to a greased pan and allow to cool before cutting.
