No cooking required!

The base of these cake pops (surprise) aren’t even cake! You know those frosted sugar cookies they have at Target and WalMart and every grocery store, like all the time? It’s those! I picked up a package of 10 from Target with green and white frosting and sprinkles for St. Patrick’s Day. They’re those Lofthouse style frosted and fluffy and perfect for making sugar cookie cake pops.

Mix one package of sugar cookies with softened cream cheese. I broke the cookies up prior to mixing them to make it easier. I also used my go-to flex edge beater attachment for my KitchenAid mixer.

Mix until combined and moist.

Making Sugar Cookie Cake Pops

Use a small scoop (or your hands or a spoon or whatever) to form bite sized balls of sugar cookie yummness. Place on cookie sheet with a sheet of wax paper or silicone mat and refrigerate until solid.

The coating of these delectable little cookie cake pops is a simple chocolate coating. You can use a chocolate or almond bark and color it if you want OR you can use some meltable candies that are already colored and easy to melt. I opted for the ready to go method.

I picked up some white and bright green meltables for my St. Patrick’s Day themed sugar cookie cake pops. Michales has a great selection of colors if you don’t want mess with food coloring. They also have an amazing selection of unique sprinkles!

With your microwave at 50% power melt the meltables down stirring ever 30-60 seconds. These melt down super well and look smooth when done. Dip a cake pop stick into a bit of the coating and into each of the cake pop balls, using the meltables to secure the stick. Once hardened, you can dip the whole thing into your coating. Swirl to evenly cover.

Decorate!

Using contrasting colors or sprinkles, decorate these as much or as little as you’d like. They’re easily customizable for holidays, birthdays or even graduation parties with school colors. Sugar cookie cake pops should stay refrigerated until served.

Michaels has an awesome collection of sprinkles!

These should stay good in your refrigerator for about a week!

    Hello,
I was wanting to make your recipe, the sugar cookie cake pops. And I was wanting to make them for Memorial Day and for July 4th. Using the red and blue sugar cookies, but I don’t know if doing that would it mix the colors up and then it be an ugly color of frosting šŸ˜•

    Thank you.

Hi Rachel! You could try splitting your cookies and making half batches. They’ll definitely combine into a much less patriotic purple… but will still be delicious!
